Irene Unceta

Irene Unceta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations, Innovation and Data Sciences at Esade. She studied Physics at the University of Barcelona and obtained an MSc in Computational Science from the University of Amsterdam. She developed her thesis project at BBVA Data & Analytics, now BBVA AI Factory.

She completed an industrial Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Barcelona with a work focused on the study of sustainability in the development and industrial deployment of machine learning-based solutions. Her research focuses on analyzing the social impact of machine learning and the development of mechanisms to ensure its fair use.
