Alberto Nadal graduated in Law in Economic and Business Sciences from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE). He has spent a good part of his professional career at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He was economic advisor to the government's vice president and minister of finance economy. He has been general director of the Official Credit Institute and general secretary of foreign trade.

Between 2004-2009 he held the position of economic and commercial counselor of the Embassy of Spain in Washington D.C. In 2009, he joined CEOE as deputy secretary general for economic, labour and international affairs. In December 2012 he was appointed secretary of state for energy. From November 2016 to June 2018 he was secretary of state for budget and expenses.
