Before joining the European Institutions, Beatriz Pérez de la Fuente was a civil servant in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. From 2011 to 2016, she worked in the European Commission in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs. She joined the European External Action Service in 2017 as policy officer for international economic affairs in the Global Agenda and Multilateral Relations Directorate, and moved in September 2022 to the Asia and the Pacific Directorate as policy officer for Japan. Beatriz Perez de la Fuente has published several articles, notably for the Real Instituto Elcano. She holds a master degree in agricultural engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
