
Maria José Parada
Associate Professor at the Strategy and General Management Department
Maria José is Associate Professor at the Strategy and General Management Department. Co-Director of the ESADE Global Business Family Initiative. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Sweden, and a PhD in Management Sciences from ESADE Business School. She did her MBA at ESADE. Maria José has been Visiting Researcher of the INSEAD Global Leadership Center, France, and Visiting Scholar at HEC, Paris. She participated at the Global Colloquium: Participant Centered Learning Executive Education Course at Harvard Business School. She currently teaches Family Business Management, and Strategy in different programs. She is FFI Fellow and has the advanced family business advising certificate from Family Firm Institute.
Her work has been published in various academic journals (e.g. Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Human Resource Management Review, Family Business Review, Journal of Family Business Strategy, Harvard Deusto Business Review), in book chapters, and has co-edited two books about developing next gen leaders and about Family Business Groups respectively. Prior to her academic career she worked several years for a multinational corporation in the telecom industry and in her family business in the tourism industry. She has served as board member in the EU STEP council for 3 years and has served as board member in her family-owned business.
