How do public policies influence access to university and the quality of education? What happens when governments change the economic incentives that affect students and universities?
In a context where accessing higher education and balancing studies with other responsibilities, such as work or raising children, can be challenging, understanding the role of these incentives is essential. The question is, though, if those incentives always have the intended effects.
Ioana Schiopu, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting at Esade and a researcher at GREF (Group for Research in Economics and Finance), explores these questions in a new episode of Risk and Return. She discusses how students and universities respond to changes in public policies governing higher education.
Hosted by Professor Omar Rachedi, Risk and Return features conversations with leading academics and professionals to make economic ideas accessible to a wider audience and explore how markets, businesses and policies shape our world.
