Webinar: Identity or economics? A discussion with Martin Sandbu on the roots of and responses to populism

In this webinar, Martin Sandbu, the Financial Times’s European Economics Commentator, debated the key ideas of his most recent book, The Economics of Belonging, with Toni Roldán, Director of EsadeEcPol. In particular, they analysed the root causes of our current challenges in light of the increasing polarisation of values and the widespread rejection of the economic and political order established after 1945. Since this situation, fuelled by populism and the frustrations of the disenfranchised, has widened inequality, they argued why the economy is at the heart of the problem and how the right policies can help address it.
