General Ballesteros: "Polarization is really hurting us"

The current geopolitical environment, marked by instability, conflicts, and multiple crises, requires boards of directors to adapt and implement effective responses. Against this backdrop, Esade's Center for Corporate Governance and the Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics, EsadeGeo, are organizing the second edition of the conference series The Impact of Geopolitics on the Board Agenda. The series aims to address issues such as security, supply chains in times of protectionism, and strategic autonomy.

The first conference was delivered by Miguel Ángel Ballesteros, Brigadier General of Artillery and director of the Spanish Department of National Security from 2018 to 2023. In this podcast, José Manuel Paredes interviews General Ballesteros on topics such as Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the EU’s security and defense strategy, the management of migration flows and its connection to the political situation in the Sahel, and the challenges of disinformation and social polarization.
