Alberto Calles: “The lack of consensus in the board has devastating effects”

Voces del Consejo, the podcast of the Esade Center for Corporate Governance, welcomes Alberto Calles, chairman of the board of directors of MyInvestor bank. In addition, he serves on the board of other organizations, including the public-private company Recursos de Galicia, where he chairs the audit committee. Calles was a student of the 11th edition of the Directors’ Program at the Center for Corporate Governance, held in 2023. 

His career has been closely linked to the Bank of Spain, where he worked in banking market supervision for more than 20 years. He also represented Spain in the Financial Stability Board during the Lehman Brothers crisis. Later, he worked at PwC as the head of regulatory, risk, and compliance consulting for banking and insurance and was a member of the company’s executive committee in Spain, as well as its partners’ board.
